When it comes to piecing together an outfit, accessories are the fashion gods’ gift. They allow us to express our individual style, make our outfits more cohesive, and add flair while doing so. While most of us might opt for a beanie or some bling, one of the best accessories is something that virtually every one of us owns. Belts are a simple style staple no matter your gender and are commonly overlooked or styled traditionally . Although they’re typically worn for function this season numerous runways have been showcasing them for fashion. With a classic design and endless embellishments, belts are helping keep up your pants and your style game. Look like a stud with this belt as seen on the runways of Burberry. The embellished design is a step up from your basic black belt and adds shine to your outfit. When worn overtop your coat or jacket, it accentuates your waist, breaking up your look and making it appear less puffy and oversized, something that winter wear tends to do.
Miu Miu took pattern play to the next level, showcasing thick belts with floral prints. Mixing patterns is a tricky task but can be done with ease as long as you choose one that is busy And pair it with one that is more traditional (stripes, etc.) that are both in similar color family.
During the dreary winter days, sometimes all you need is a dash of color to brighten up. Colorful belts can be utilized to break up two unconventional shades or to mix up a monochromatic look. Fendi showed how you can elevate your look by adding a pop of color to your palette and even went a step farther by styling models with abstract belts, as seen above.
Sometimes simplicity is key. Derek Lam dressed models in basic black belts and layered them overtop LBD’s, making each look effortlessly chic.
Swap out your usual accesories and style a belt in a new way. It’s time to seize the winter season.
